TOPIC: Issue with Tweak on Linux

Issue with Tweak on Linux 2 years 10 months ago #597

I'm trying to start Tweak on my linux machine from the command line. I use:

java -jar GSTweak.jar

but I'm getting an exception that starts with:

java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: rxtxSerial (Not found in java.library.path) thrown while loading gnu.io.RXTXCommDriver

any ideas ? I'm not a "java guy"

Hi Matt. You may be the first person to attempt using Tweaker from linux that I am aware of; perhaps others who have tried it may chime in. There is no reason of course why it should not work, but the distributions that we support are for Mac and OS X, although for linux you only need to get the natively built version of this library and put it in your java search path.

Doing a quick google search led me to this link, although I have not tried downloading RXTX from there:
jlog.org/rxtx-lin.html

All you should need to do is get a compatible RXTX.jar and place it in the same directory where the Tweaker program is located and you should be good to go. BTW, RXTX is the serial communication library commonly used by Java applications to open up serial over USB.

Keep us posted on your progress!
