On the Babblebot chip, Q is a user controlled output that can be turned on or off through a function call. For example, you can make the call:

GS.getMaster()->enableUserOutput ( true );

By default the Q output is off. It can sink up to 40 mA of current at 5 V, which is useful for LEDS and other simple circuits. It basically provides you with another output to control in addition to those on the Arduino.
