TOPIC: What processing needs does GinSing require?

What processing needs does GinSing require? 6 years 8 months ago #77

The GinSing software library is primarily a lightweight wrapper for serial communication to the Babblebot IC; the hardware does the job of generating the output audio within the sheild itself. The resources required to generate sound then comes down to the processing requirement to send serial data to the board, which operates at 9600 baud.

At this communication speed, you can send at lot of commands - approximately 500 commands per second, which is more that most applications would ever require since most commands are one byte each. In addition, some commands can trigger functions on the Babblebot IC that automate the waveform generation. For example, you can set a DCO to perform an automatic frequency sweep or trigger a predefined amplitude envelope with just one command.
